Planium for your role

Planium for structural engineers

The design is your job and it stays that way. Planium is the second pair of eyes and the writing aid around it: it reads the documents against each other, keeps the design basis in order, and drafts the memos and reports. Loads, load combinations and classes are computed by code against named code sources — the AI never produces your member sizes.

Sound familiar?

The calculation report grows out of FEM output, spreadsheets and hand calculations — and nobody has time to check that it adds up.

The calculation report flow gathers results per element with governing load combination and utilisation, and flags overstressed elements, likely over-design and missing serviceability checks. The design check then reads the report against the design basis memo and the structural drawings.

The structural drawings don't match the architectural ones — and you find out when the wall is already cast.

The drawing review reads structural drawings against architectural drawings, the fire safety design and MEP penetrations, and collects missing load-bearing walls, openings in the structure, level differences and fire resistance classes in a protocol per drawing.

The design basis memo is copied from the last project and never quite updated to BFS 2024:6.

Enter the building's parameters and the consequence classes, ψ factors, climate loads, exposure and execution classes are computed with derivations. The AI writes the design basis memo and structural documentation around those numbers — it doesn't invent its own.

The load takedown lives in a spreadsheet only you understand.

Snow and wind loads come from Boverket's climate load API for the site, load combinations are set up per consequence class, and loads are taken down floor by floor to columns, walls and foundations — traceable from zone to element.

The inspection plan for the frame and the concrete and steel specification are the same copy job on every project.

Inspection points for the frame based on material, execution and consequence class — plus exposure class, concrete grade, cover and execution class per building element with AMA-coded text to paste in.

Converting a 1960s frame, and nobody knows which code it was designed to.

Existing structure links the year of construction to the code of its day, compares with today's loads and drafts a load-bearing capacity statement. Foundation choice and review of the precast supplier's interfaces are separate flows.

The wow moment

The calculation report checked against the design basis and drawings — before the independent checker does it.

Upload the calculation report, the design basis memo and the structural drawings. Planium reads them against each other and finds what doesn't add up: a snow load that differs between memo and calculation, a consequence class that changed without the load combinations following, a cover on the drawing that isn't enough for the exposure class. You get a review protocol to work through — the judgement and the signature are still yours.

  • Loads, combinations and classes computed by code against the Eurocodes with the Swedish choices in BFS 2024:6
  • The AI reads, compares and writes — it does not design
  • Everything lands as editable drafts with references to the source

The flows that save structural engineers the most time

When you set your role in Planium, these AI flows go to the top of your workspace.

Design basis & structural documentation

The K-PM (design basis) and structural documentation per BFS 2024:6 — loads, safety classes, load combinations, exposure and execution classes and the structural system, with the design-check scope documented.

Loads & load takedown

Snow, wind and imposed loads from Boverket's climate-load API, load combinations per safety class and a floor-by-floor load takedown to columns, walls and foundations — traceable from zone to element.

Design check assistant

Calculation report, design basis and structural drawings cross-checked — the AI extracts assumptions, recomputes simple members as a sanity check and drafts the protocol for the independent checker to sign.

Structural vs. architectural review

Structural drawings against architectural drawings, fire strategy and MEP penetrations — missing load-bearing walls, openings in structure, level mismatches and fire ratings in a per-drawing review protocol.

Concrete & steel specification

From environment, service life and fire requirements to exposure class, concrete grade, cover, fire rating and execution class per building element — with AMA-coded general notes.

Existing structure assessment

Capacity assessment before alteration — the AI reads old structural drawings, maps build year to code era (BABS, SBN, NR, BKR, EKS), compares with today's loads and drafts a capacity statement.
